Like most nights, I tend to pray on the midnight hour. Lastnight (2/27/22) I was praying before I went to bed asking the Lord to reveal what’s hidden in secret, and to intervene with what is going on overseas. I laid down to sleep and I found myself in a vision. In the vision I was on a stage with five other prophets. We were under this spotlight and each of us were taking turns praying and prophesying about what was currently going on in the world especially, concerning Russia and Ukraine. When it came to my turn, I suddenly heard a shofar or trumpet sound off. It was so loud in the encounter it woke me up out of my sleep. I looked at the clock it and it said 2:38am, I hadn’t been asleep very long.
I immediately asked the Lord what was the sounding of the alarm about. I heard him say, “Shamar.” Shamar is a Hebrew word that means to keep, guard, to protect, and to observe. This is a function connected to the prophetic concerning the watchman. Those who carry the “watchman anointing” tend to be prophets and intercessors. Like in the natural, in the spirit realm, they are gatekeepers. They allow or disallow what comes through the spiritual gates. We see this ministry depicted throughout the Bible but, most noticeably in Ezekiel 33 and Habakkuk 2.
In Biblical times, the watchman would go up on the high tower and be able to see out what was ahead. They had the vantage point to see when the enemy was coming and sound the alarm to warn the people. It was a big responsibility. Ezekiel 33:3-6NLT describes this, “When the watchman sees the enemy coming, he sounds the alarm to warn the people. Then if those who hear the alarm refuse to take action, it is their own fault if they die. They heard the alarm but ignored it, so the responsibility is theirs. If they had listened to the warning, they could have saved their lives. But if the watchman sees the enemy coming and doesn’t sound the alarm to warn the people, he is responsible for their captivity. They will die in their sins, but I will hold the watchman responsible for their deaths.’” As I pressed into further meaning of the encounter the Lord said, “I’m releasing a clarion call in this hour for my people to pray for the nations. There is a call to shamar in this hour.”
Biblically when there was a clarion call or the trumpet sounded it was to appeal, an urgent call to action, alert people to coming danger or judgment, a battle signal, to make announcements, to praise God, or gather the people (http://www.harmonypassion.com/blog/music-in-the-bible-5-trumpets-in-the-old-testament). Examples of this happening in the Bible can be found in Jeremiah 6:17, Ezekiel 7:14 and several other places. If you notice in my encounter the trumpet didn’t sound until we were done praying and prophesying.
This is important to note because, we play a part in what can happen in the world. When world events happen we cannot cower in fear. We must rise with boldness and confidence in our God. Our prayers can shift world events and wars. I’m reminded of the famous intercessor Reese Howell. He gave his life to intercession that shifted world events most notably World War ll. What could happen as the church if we rose up and began to declare and decree from heaven? Even though things are manifesting in the natural as war, the true war is going on in the realm of the Spirit.
Our prayers have the power to determine how things will go. We must partner with heaven and release what heaven is saying. There is a shuffling and a shifting of nations. I see that even the more as we step into March. We will see more military aggression in the nations. World leaders are like chess pieces on a mass world-wide chessboard . God is moving the chess pieces and allowing them to be moved. Daniel 22:21 says, “He controls the course of world events; he removes kings and sets up other kings. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the scholars.” Remember however bad it may get the Lord has the ultimate checkmate.
We must pray. The sound of the trumpet releases the judgment or justice of God against injustice. As watchmen and intercessors we are standing between the earth and the heavens as a conduit of the will of God upon the earth. Yes God can sovereignly move but he chooses to use us. We can sit back and watch or we can play a vital role with what’s going in the earth with our prayers. I encourage you in this season to make time to fast and pray. You’re needed on your post more than ever. Your prayers are shifting things in the spirit and executing the justice of God in the earth. Will you answer the clarion call to pray?
